Therapeutic Touch Education and Training
Therapeutic Touch education and training common elements are outlined below.
Basic (Level I)
Nominally 3 days or equivalent in length. Length may be extended according to industry needs.
This level is designed to prepare people to use TT in the community for family and friends, and for those who have reasonable health. Health professionals can use TT in the clinical area following Level I with mentoring and/or a further 2 days training.
Intermediate (Level II)
Nominally 3 days or equivalent. Length may be extended according to industry needs.
Preparation for those with more impaired health is the focus of this level, as well as an extension and deepening of skills. Generally, participants have completed 6 months of regular practice in TT and other requirements as set down by the teacher.
Mentorship or Practitioner
Mentor or practitioner programs are usually a minimum of 12 months in length involving regular ongoing contact with the mentor and the completion of specified requirements such as case studies, up to a 100 individual treatments plus reading and educational activities. Mentorship and practitioner programs are designed to help the personal development required for more expert practice as well as the deepening and extension of skills. Support is also provided for those wishing to set up in practice or to combine TT into a health care practice. Anyone completing level one is eligible to undertake these programs.
Advanced
This level is undertaken after at least 3 years of regular TT practice. Acceptance into courses is dependent upon teacher/mentor recommendation. A variety of advanced level courses are offered on a range of subjects.
