Therapeutic Touch Education and Training
Therapeutic Touch Association of Australasia trainers in Therapeutic Touch base their education programs on the guidelines set down by Nurse Healers Professional Associates Inc (NHPAI). Dolores Krieger established this organization in the USA to set the core standards and structures for teaching and practicing Therapeutic Touch internationally.
The Therapeutic Touch Association of Australasia qualified teachers can now offer competency based training with courses accredited through the Australian Quality Training Framework.
There are a range of approaches to teaching each level, from weekend courses to distance education. Courses can be designed for particular groups or workplaces.
Courses are available to suit your needs, whether you wish to learn TT for self care, to help a loved one, become a volunteer carer or for use in professional practice.
Basic Level
3 days or equivalent in length
This level is designed to prepare people to use TT in the community for family and friends and for those who have reasonable health. Health professionals may use TT in the clinical area after basic level following approval by their teacher and with mentoring.
Intermediate Level
3 days or equivalent in length
Preparation for using TT with those who have more impaired health is the focus of this level, as well as an extension and deepening of skills. Generally, participants have completed 6 months of regular practice in TT and other requirements as set down by the teacher.
Mentorship
Mentorship is a minimum of 12 months in length involving regular ongoing contact with the mentor and the completion of specified requirements such as case studies, up to a 100 individual treatments plus reading and educational activities. Mentorship is designed to help the personal development required for more expert practice as well as the deepening and extension of skills. Support is also provided for those wishing to set up in practice or to combine TT into a health care practice. Anyone completing level one is eligible commence mentorship.
Advanced
This level is undertaken after more than 1 year of regular TT practice and following Intermediate. Acceptance into courses is dependent upon teacher/mentor recommendation. A variety of advanced level courses are offered on a range of subjects.
Teacher
Teacher level may be undertaken after 5 years of regular TT practice. There is a training and accreditation process for teachers through TTAA. Acceptance into courses is dependent upon teacher/mentor recommendation.
Professional Development Program
Regular national conferences have been held in Australia, often with international speakers. Seminars, workshops, retreats and practice groups are also available.
A Practitioner and Professional Development program is being developed for ongoing practitioner accreditation and is soon to be implemented by TTAA.

Practice Groups
After completing Therapeutic Touch Level I participants can attend TT practice groups. These offer an evening or afternoon of meditation, exchange of Therapeutic Touch treatments and opportunities for practitioner support and discussion.
